Design Coordinator- Electrification

Who We Are

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.

What You'll Do

• Assist the Design Manager in daily tasks.
• Manage the civil/structural constructability reviews of the ONxpress design packages in close collaboration with the Construction team for civil works linked to the electrification programme: foundations, traction power stations civils, accesses, grounding and bonding, etc.
• Coordination and allocation of submittals, RFIs and other design documents to design team, other ONxpress teams and client.
• Identify, monitor, mitigate, and escalate issues that can potentially put the success of the project at risk.
• Identify any opportunities for advanced works based on third party projects and opportunities and highlight to Design Manager to put a plan together for construction planning.
• Work closely with Integrated Digital Delivery team to enhance the digital processes related to ONxpress scope for estimating and construction activities.
• Maintain a good collaborative environment between the construction and the design team helping to resolve any issues raised by the construction team.
• Perform constructability reviews of the ONxpress design packages focusing also with the interface enabling projects.
• Ensure the project is progressing by completing, assigning, and monitor day-to-day tasks and providing updates to management.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team comprised of employees, delivery partner, consultants, and contractors to deliver high-quality product and service, and oversees the day-to-day delivery of project team members involved in the coordination and administration of project elements.

What You Bring:

• University or College Degree in an engineering or business discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in design coordination.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction environment.
• Proven experience in civil works and structural project delivery is required; and experience in delivery of projects in other transportation service sectors (rail & transit, aviation and ports) is a strong asset.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Licensed Professional Engineer is an asset.
• Understanding of buried utilities would be appreciated

Expected compensation for this role is between $70,000.00-85,000.00 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.
