Summary: As a key member of Yami’s Canada launch team, the HR Supervisor will bridge the gap between business strategy and local operational excellence. You will partner with Fulfillment Center leadership to build a high-performing team from the ground up, and act as the General Administration (GA) Lead for our Toronto office, ensuring all HR practices are not only world-class but fully compliant with Canadian federal and provincial regulations, and managing the day-to-day administrative needs that keep both the office and the warehouse running smoothly.
Essential Job Responsibility: FC Support & Labor Relations Warehouse Partnership: Work in office at the FC to support leadership with scheduling, labor planning, and employee relations.
Strategic Workforce Planning: Partner closely with Canadian labor providers to maintain optimal staffing levels year-round. Proactively manage the "flex up" and "flex down" cycles, ensuring high-quality talent during peak seasons while optimizing labor costs and efficiency during lower-volume periods.
Strategic Workforce: Bring existing relationships with high-performance staffing agencies, legal consultants, and local HR communities to the table.
Proactively build new partnerships with emerging labor providers, local universities, and community organizations to ensure Yami remains competitive and agile in the Ontario talent market.
Performance Management: Implement "High-Performance" practices and disciplinary processes, educating managers on how to lead teams under Ontario labor standards. Compliance, Safety & Payroll Legal Guardrail: Ensure all policies strictly adhere to the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), (JHSC), and manage WSIB (Workers Comp) claims.
Payroll & Benefits: Coordinate with HQ to ensure accurate Canadian payroll processing and manage benefit plans. Talent Acquisition & Office Growth End-to-End Hiring: Lead recruitment for all levels, from high-volume warehouse associates (in-house and agencies) to specialized office staff (Accounting, Business, and Supply Chain).
Onboarding & Training: Create and execute a "Canada-Specific" onboarding program that integrates new hires into Yami’s global culture while covering local safety and policy. General Administration (GA) & Office Management Site Setup: Assist in the physical setup of the Toronto office and FC office spaces (furniture, supplies, vendor management).
Vendor Management: Manage local contracts for cleaning, security, licensing, and facility maintenance.
Daily GA: Act as the "Go-To" person for office needs, employee inquiries, and local company events to build a strong "One Team" culture.
Other HR and GA related work as assigned Qualification and Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or above
Experience: 3–5 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
Local Knowledge: Deep understanding of Ontario Labor Law (ESA) and Safety (OHSA).
Bilingualism: Professional-level communication in English and Mandarin (written and verbal) is a must for HQ reporting and local management.
Adaptability: Thrive in "0 to 1" environments with a can-do attitude.
AI Proficiency & Process Optimization: A mindset centered on the sophisticated use of AI and Automation to streamline HR operations. Dedicated to replacing "busy work" with intelligent systems, allowing you to dedicate your expertise to more high-impact work and human interaction.
Status: Must have legal status to work in Canada (No sponsorship).
Compensation Transparency: The anticipated salary range for this role is $75,000 – $102,000 CAD per year. Final salary offers are determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s specialized experience, skill set, and existing professional network in the local market.
Accessibility & Inclusion: Yami is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity. In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code, Yami will provide accommodation to applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment, selection, and/or assessment process. If selected to participate, please inform our team of the nature of any accommodation(s) that you may require.
AI Disclosure & Transparency: All final hiring decisions, interviews, and candidate evaluations are conducted by our human recruitment team. We ensure that our use of technology supports, rather than replaces, fair and equitable human judgment.
Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. Yami does not provide visa sponsorship or relocation assistance for this position.
