We are seeking experienced consulting sales and business development professionals who know how to identify consulting buyers, develop relationships, sell professional services, and close consulting engagements.

The Opportunity

This role is designed for someone who has actually sold consulting services and understands how the consulting marketplace works.

You should know how to find organizations that need consulting, identify decision-makers, build relationships, develop opportunities, present solutions, negotiate engagements, and close contracts.

You should already have a strong understanding of who buys consulting, why they buy it, how consulting engagements are sold, and how to develop a pipeline of qualified opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Develop new business for Acumen Agency's consulting services.
• Identify companies, governments, organizations, and other potential consulting clients.
• Identify decision-makers, executives, procurement contacts, and other consulting buyers.
• Leverage existing professional networks and relationships to generate opportunities.
• Prospect through direct outreach, networking, referrals, events, partnerships, and other channels.
• Develop and manage a qualified consulting sales pipeline.
• Understand client problems and identify appropriate consulting opportunities.
• Present Acumen Agency's consulting capabilities and develop compelling proposals.
• Lead sales conversations, negotiations, and client acquisition.
• Develop long-term relationships with consulting buyers and decision-makers.
• Pursue recurring consulting engagements and larger contracts.
• Work with Acumen Agency's consulting professionals to develop solutions and proposals.
• Track opportunities, proposals, contracts, sales activity, and revenue.
• Develop strategic partnerships and referral relationships that generate consulting business.

Qualifications

• Previous experience selling consulting services is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success in business development, consulting sales, professional services sales, or a related field.
• Existing network of business, corporate, government, nonprofit, or organizational decision-makers is highly valuable.
• Strong understanding of the consulting sales cycle.
• Proven ability to prospect, develop relationships, negotiate, and close.
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Entrepreneurial and commercially minded.
• Ability to work independently and develop business without constant supervision.
• A demonstrated history of generating consulting clients, contracts, or revenue is strongly preferred.
