General Manager / Chief Enthusiast – Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville

Job Location: Toronto, Canada. Salary: $150,000 - $170,000 annually.

Job Overview

As General Manager of Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville, you will uphold the brand’s legacy of refined luxury, lead a high-performing executive team, foster a culture of excellence, drive commercial success, and ensure exceptional guest satisfaction through strategic leadership and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and manage all hotel operations including budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, service initiatives, balanced scorecard performance, and compliance with company policies and standards.
• Oversee sales and marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with brand goals.
• Develop and manage the executive team, providing supervision, professional development, scheduling, counseling, evaluations, and recognition.
• Recruit, interview, and train team members.
• Maintain service quality, operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, standards compliance, and financial performance.
• Identify operational performance gaps and implement corrective measures.
• Serve as primary liaison with hotel owners and corporate entities.
• Establish and enforce all safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with OHSA, conduct safety inspections, investigate accidents, and maintain first aid stations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent.
• Experience: 5-10 years of general management experience in full-service luxury or resort properties. Fluency in English required; other languages preferred.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated creativity and commercial acumen across revenue centers.
• Hands‑on leadership style with experience managing lean teams.
• Successful collaboration with an active ownership group.
• Mathematical skills: budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, variances.
• Strong reading, writing, problem‑solving, reasoning, motivation, organizational, and training abilities.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Carry or lift items up to 25 pounds.
• Remain stationary for extended periods.
• Handle objects, bend, stoop, kneel as needed.
• Interact with customers, employees, and third parties in a manner that reflects highly on the hotel, brand, and company.
