Medical Microbiologist for Interior Health

Elevate infection control in the role of Medical Microbiologist with Interior Health. This position focuses on bacteriology oversight while contributing to clinical consultation across multiple laboratories. Interior Health is hiring a Medical Microbiologist for its team that supports four microbiology labs in Kelowna, Kamloops, Trail, and Cranbrook. The ideal candidate will lead bacteriology and, if qualified, mycology testing while providing consultation for the infection prevention and control (IPAC) program. Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for effective collaboration with laboratory and hospital staff. Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee bacteriology testing processes and methodologies
• Consult on clinical issues within the IPAC program
• Provide on-call service shared among 6 microbiologists
• Contribute to mycology testing as needed
• Collaborate with regional administrative and lab teams Requirements:
• Expertise in bacteriology, experience in IPAC
• Interest in or experience with mycology testing
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Relevant microbiology qualifications and certifications Drive infection control efforts and microbiological expertise as part of the Interior Health team.
