Occupational Therapist, Neurological & Medical Complex Care

This position is within our Neurological & Medical Complex Care unit.

About Neurological & Medical Complex Care We are a 32-bed unit where patients are admitted for specialized complex supportive care or medical/neurological/orthopedic reconditioning. Our Neurological Care Program provides specialized complex care for patients who have moderate to severe impairment in their mobility, cognitive function and/or communication due to brain injuries or neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or cerebral palsy. We aim to help patients adapt to new changes as a result of illness/diagnosis, focus on quality of life and help transition to the most appropriate clinical setting.

In this role you will:

Assess, develop and implement occupational therapy treatment interventions utilizing sound clinical reasoning and evidence-based practices

Collaborate with interprofessional team to develop comprehensive care plans, transition planning and engage in patient education as required

Supervise Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) in the delivery of Occupational therapy care plan

Actively participate in team meetings to support patient care activities such as daily huddles, team rounds and family meetings.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation in alignment with college and hospital standards

Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required

Job Requirements Mandatory

University degree from a recognized Occupational Therapy Program

Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)

Current ADP Authorizer for Mobility Aids

If not yet eligible, must apply within 6 months of eligibility

Preferred

MoCA certification

Skills and Knowledge

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills, both verbal and written

Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills

Demonstrated satisfactory job performance and attendance history

Salary Minimum - $48.843/hour; Maximum - $61.539/hour
