Key Responsibilities May Include:

• Developing and executing a comprehensive research strategy aligned with overall business goals, market trends, and long-term innovation roadmaps.
• Identifying and evaluating new research areas, technologies, and methodologies relevant to the organization's future growth.
• Leading and overseeing research programs and projects , ensuring scientific rigor, ethical considerations, and project timelines are met.
• Building, mentoring, and inspiring research teams (e.g., scientists, engineers, academics, data researchers).
• Managing research budgets, intellectual property (IP) , and relationships with external research partners, universities, or consortia.
• Translating complex research findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for product development, strategy, and business units.
• Fostering a culture of scientific inquiry, experimentation, and knowledge sharing within the organization.
• Advising the C-suite and board of directors on strategic research investments, breakthrough opportunities, and potential disruptions.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant research standards, data integrity, and ethical guidelines.
• Acting as an executive thought partner to founders or CEOs on all aspects of deep research, scientific strategy, and future innovation.

Key Requirements May Include:

• Proven experience in a senior research leadership, R&D, Chief Scientist, or executive consulting role, ideally within a relevant industry (e.g., biotech, AI, materials science, advanced engineering, deep tech).
• Track record of successfully leading and managing significant research programs that resulted in publications, patents, new products, or strategic capabilities.
• Deep expertise in research methodologies, experimental design, data analysis, and intellectual property management.
• Strong understanding of the scientific or technical domain relevant to the client's industry.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional leadership abilities, comfortable engaging with C-suite, scientific communities, and technical teams.
• Visionary thinker with a strong analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for discovery and innovation.
• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a relevant scientific or technical field is often preferred.
• Prior experience as a fractional, interim, or consulting executive is a strong plus.
