Pembina Pipeline Corporation is currently looking for a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our downtown Calgary office for an exciting career opportunity as an Accountant, CPA Candidate beginning as soon as possible . As a CPA Pre-Approved Program, Pembina is committed to training and developing qualified candidates, through a 36-month formal rotation program, while supporting them in obtaining the requisite practical experience requirement of the CPA certification program.What Pembina OffersOur training program is structured as work rotations in selected Pembina business or service units where the duration, tasks, and responsibilities are designed to meet the requirements of Pembina’s competency map as approved by CPA Alberta.

The Accountant, CPA Candidate will rotate in the following areas:
Financial and Revenue Accounting; Internal Audit

It is expected that the Accountant, CPA Candidate will also be completing the requirements of the CPA Professional Education Program (“PEP”) while in Pembina’s training program.Pembina will work with the Accountant, CPA Candidate and provide appropriate exam preparation support to be successful in writing the Common Final Exam.Pembina will cover all fees related to CPA registration, module fees, study materials, and exams (first attempts).
The Accountant, CPA Candidate will directly report to a supervisor during each rotation over the 36-month training program and will be responsible for:
Preparing annual GAAP-compliant legal entity and trust financial statements, financial statement notes, and working papers;
Assisting with recording tax reorganizations;
Assisting with customer audit information requests and queries;
Preparing general ledger account reconciliations and variance analysis;
Compiling operational data and preparing management reports;
Evaluating design and operating effectiveness of internal controls;
Evaluating various risk assessment procedures;
Other projects as assigned.
The successful candidate must be eligible to enroll or is enrolled in the CPA PEP level of studies to be accepted into the formal rotation program. Intermediate level with MS Excel would be an asset while strong skills in other Microsoft applications is desirable; Experience with SAP or similar large ERP systems would be an asset.

Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Fridays.
