Lead the legal operations at the University of Ottawa as a Legal Counsel. Provide expert corporate law advice, manage transactions, and navigate legal challenges in a full-time role. The University of Ottawa is seeking an accomplished Legal Counsel to collaborate with senior administrators and the Legal Services team. In this position, you will tackle complex transactions, advise on partnership agreements, and ensure compliance with intellectual property regulations. This role demands significant experience in corporate law and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and French. Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the university in legal proceedings and negotiations
- Draft and review contracts for research initiatives
- Advise on intellectual property compliance matters
- Conduct detailed legal research providing timely opinions
- Manage outside counsel ensuring legal priorities are met
- LL.B or J.D. degree and Law Society of Ontario membership
- At least 10 years of legal experience
- Expertise in contract and administrative law
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Bilingual in English and French
