Job Summary

Legal Counsel works in collaboration with the Retail Business Unit management and other McKesson Canada business leaders across various business segments to provide timely legal advice, negotiate commercial agreements, support corporate transactions, and help protect the company's assets and reputation in order to mitigate legal risk.

Specific Responsibilities

• Provide timely legal advice on day‑to‑day corporate and commercial activities across Canada.
• Conduct legal and regulatory research to support new pharmacy or retail programs, services, and commercial offerings.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and transactional documents.
• Act as legal advisor on strategic business transactions affecting McKesson Canada’s units.
• Protect the company’s assets and reputation in all transactions and identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
• Perform risk assessments for proposed corporate decisions and develop mitigation strategies.
• Maintain expertise in applicable laws and regulations, including pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practice, and other healthcare laws.
• Provide regular updates to management on commercial, regulatory, and compliance issues.
• Participate in cross‑functional initiatives and projects such as impact assessments and risk‑management initiatives.
• Collaborate with corporate functions (Compliance, Privacy, Real Estate, Finance, HR, Operations) to support policy implementation and compliance programs.
• Provide training on new or emerging legal and regulatory matters.
• Champion digital technology and AI tools to improve efficiency.
• Promote an ethical culture and act as a professional role model.

Position Requirements

• Law degree from a recognized university and membership in good standing of the Quebec or Ontario Bar.
• 3 to 5 years of corporate or commercial legal experience, either in‑house or private practice.
• Strong digital and technology skills, including proficiency with AI tools and legal productivity solutions.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements; familiarity with regulated environments is an asset.
• Ability to provide practical legal advice and work collaboratively.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in French and English.
• Exemplary professionalism and integrity.
• Background in litigation is an asset.
• Hybrid work model: in‑office attendance two days per week.

Compensation

Base pay range: $85,400 – $142,400. Additional compensation may include annual bonus or long‑term incentive opportunities.
