Art Director - Development

Devoted Studios is a production management company for external development in video games. With a mission to create equal opportunity for all talent globally to work on the games of their dreams, Devoted Studios aims to decentralize game development. We are looking for a highly creative and experienced 3D Art Director to join Devoted Studios in leading the visual direction of external game development projects. You will be responsible for maintaining high-quality 3D visual standards, ensuring alignment with project goals, and providing creative leadership throughout the production pipeline. The ideal candidate has a strong background in 3D art for games, a deep understanding of external development processes, and exceptional communication and feedback skills.
Managing the Art Team
Review other projects for quality and technical consistency, providing feedback
Communicate directly with art teams, clients, and partners

Provide video and delivery template feedback for art teams
Create guidelines and technical requirements, pitch guidelines/presentations for clients

Resolve workflow problems for production projects
Identify work process improvements
Ensure all assets created by the art team and outsource studios conform to style and technical guidelines
Work together with the team of Art Directors, Lead Artist, 3D Modeler

Project Management
Evaluate art content and perform final polishing if required
Maintain accurate documentation of production methodologies and techniques
Help develop best practices for art creation

Onboarding and Training
Participate in the onboarding process and project setup
Work with US-based Art Directors to ensure high-quality production, on-time delivery, and budget adherence.
Partner with team members (Art Director, Lead Artist, 3D Modeler) on various projects.
Coordinate with internal teams to enhance project quality.

4–6 years of leadership experience in the video game industry, including as a Lead Artist or 3D Character Artist
Proven experience managing, mentoring, and reviewing performance for remote and cross-functional art teams
Artistic & Technical Expertise
Strong background in 3D art with a deep understanding of artistic pipelines, styles, and quality benchmarks
Unreal Engine or Unity, Photoshop, Maya, Blender, Substance Suite, Marmoset
Familiarity with project management tools like Jira and documentation tools like Confluence
Experience in developing and maintaining production guidelines, pipelines, and technical documentation

Strong ability to estimate project requirements, manage pre-production tasks, and oversee multiple projects (3–5 simultaneously)
Ability to work autonomously and remotely with a global team
Fluent in English (C1 level)

5+ years in a game development or entertainment studio environment
Experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) is a plus
A strong passion for video games
