Senior Scheduler (Toronto)

Overview

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of current jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network. Responsibilities

Reporting to the Program Scheduling Manager, the Senior Scheduler supports the scheduling team and interfaces with Project Sponsors, Construction teams, Operation & Maintenance, and a dedicated Project Controls team within each ONxpress discipline. Scheduling & Reporting

Performs and coordinates collecting, verifying, and integrating work scope for all entities into the total project plan, and reviews representation of scope in schedules to develop detailed baseline schedule. Develops and maintains all required project schedules and ensures integrity of data across the entire project life cycle. Creates and implements key scheduling requirements such as bespoke activity coding, naming conventions, client requirements management protocol, project calendars, and resource and plant data libraries. Provides expertise in resource and cost loading within project schedules, generating progress curves, S-curves, and related cost/time charts. Supports resource planning and analysis, forecasting the requirement of labor, materials, and equipment over the course of the project based on work front analysis. Performs productivity analysis of construction operations, verifies estimates, establishes productivity basis for estimates, and reviews labor estimates for reasonableness. Prepares progress reports and dashboards to provide project status updates to internal and external clients. Analyzes schedule variance, float, trending, and monitors schedule KPIs. Manages schedule change notices and forecasts project impact; implements corrective action when performance trends deviate from baseline. Performs audits on schedules including subcontractor-produced schedules, prepares required output documents. Collaborates with cross‑functional teams to maintain, add, or modify schedule data and plans. Performs Schedule Health Checks in compliance with Project Agreement requirements and best practices. Manages projects using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and methodologies. Works with SAP for cost management, including cost tracking, reporting, and integration with project controls. Develops and maintains project cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support informed decision‑making. Tracks budget performance, identifies cost overruns, and implements corrective actions. Assesses cost impacts of scope changes and integrates schedule and cost data for holistic performance tracking. People Management

Creates and maintains a collaborative, inclusive, respectful culture. Directs, administers personnel, and trains technical and non‑technical personnel (e.g., project planners and planning coordinators). Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. At least 10+ years of planning experience on mega projects with rail experience. Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, and managing complex projects. Problem‑solving skills and sound judgment with ownership and accountability. Strong communication skills and understanding of technical terminology. Understands forensic schedule analysis and provides reports to the project management team. Understands what‑if schedule analysis and presents results to the project management team. Expert analytical and computer skills (MS Excel, word processing software, and presentation tools). Expert level knowledge of project planning and scheduling software (Primavera P6, XER toolkit, TILOS). Knowledge of SAP, Hard Dollar, PowerBI, and Synchro considered an asset. Benefits

Expected compensation for this role is between $120,000.00 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration.
