Tech Lead

Responsibilities

• Own the technical and product roadmap in partnership with the GM, product team, and customers.
• Make final technical decisions across architecture, code quality, security, data modeling, performance, release engineering, and vendor migrations.
• Build and ship production AI workflows with evaluations, guardrails, tenant-safe tool use, and customer-facing features.
• Operate as the sole engineer while improving architecture, automation, testing, documentation, and readiness for future hires.
• Introduce disciplined delivery practices including trunk-based development, automated testing, staging environments, feature flags, and reliable deployment paths.
• Improve platform velocity, resilience, operational efficiency, and cloud and vendor cost management.
• Own production security and data handling, including least-privilege access and protection of sensitive data in non-production environments.
• Act as the technical face of the business and communicate clearly with operators, customers, legal, and other non-engineering stakeholders.

Requirements

• Senior-level, current experience building Python backend services and Node/TypeScript systems and owning a large mature codebase.
• Broad generalist capability across web, mobile, data, infrastructure, and AI, with the ability to learn new stacks quickly.
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating AWS systems using Kubernetes, queues or event-driven workers, infrastructure-as-code, and production Postgres.
• Experience introducing trunk-based development, automated testing, and disciplined environments without halting product delivery.
• Production experience with foundation-model software, retrieval, tool use, evaluations, and guardrails in multi-tenant products.
• Experience as the sole engineer or clear technical owner responsible for design, development, deployment, on-call, and customer communication.
• Strong product and business judgment, including roadmap prioritization and distinguishing costly technical debt from lower-impact cleanup.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with non-engineering stakeholders.
• Preferred experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture and access-control or isolation challenges.
• Preferred experience operating event-driven and queue-backed systems at meaningful volume, including throughput, backpressure, idempotency, and provider degradation.
• Preferred cross-platform mobile experience and experience maintaining a mobile release channel.
• Preferred deep third-party integration experience involving APIs, webhooks, file-based handoffs, and undocumented customer systems.
• Preferred security and privacy engineering experience, including SOC 2, PII minimization, encryption, secrets management, and audit logging.
• Preferred experience replacing costly vendor dependencies in-house without a disruptive rewrite.
• Preferred vertical or B2B SaaS experience where buyers and end users differ.
