General Accountant (Full Remote)

Your role: As the General Accountant with Canadian Bookkeeping experience at our company, you'll be the financial wizard behind our success. You'll expertly manage our financial transactions, ensuring every purchase, sale, receipt, and payment is recorded flawlessly in QuickBooks. Balancing the general ledger accounts will be your forte, as you'll verify, allocate, and post transactions with precision. Reconciliation will be your daily mantra, guaranteeing accuracy and completeness in our accounts and bank statements. Responsibilities:

• Record financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, payments, and process accounts payable and receivable transactions using QuickBooks.
• Maintain and balance general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions; reconcile accounts and bank statements for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and submit periodic financial reports and tax information, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and payroll-related taxes.
• Assist with budget preparation, financial forecasting, and provide monthly commentary on changes in financial results.
• Handle payroll processing, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes, while maintaining confidentiality of financial information and compliance with regulations.
• Provide support during audits by preparing documentation and assisting auditors, and stay updated with accounting principles, regulations, and industry trends relevant to Canada.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field, with proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, preferably in a Canadian setting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage), Microsoft Excel, and a strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and regulations, including GST/HST.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting, with effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and familiarity with payroll processing and related legislation in Canada.
• Bilingual (English/French) a plus, with English being mandatory.
