What is the Opportunity?

The Specialist will support the development, coordination, design review and implementation planning of temporary works required for the rehabilitation of the Mactaquac Generating Station.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, construction, estimating, planning, procurement and project controls teams to ensure temporary works solutions are safe, constructible, cost-effective and fully integrated into the overall project execution strategy.

During the Development Phase, this role will play an important part in defining temporary works requirements, developing concepts and methodologies, identifying technical risks and supporting constructability and construction planning ahead of field execution.

What You'll Do Here:

• Support the development and coordination of the project’s Temporary Works strategy during the Development Phase.
• Identify temporary works requirements associated with the rehabilitation and construction activities of the Mactaquac project.
• Develop, review and coordinate temporary works concepts, designs, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Support temporary works associated with activities such as access systems, working platforms, shoring, formwork, falsework, excavation support, lifting arrangements, temporary structures, construction staging and other construction-enabling works.
• Work closely with permanent works designers and construction teams to ensure temporary works are properly integrated with permanent structures and construction sequencing.
• Participate in constructability reviews, design reviews, risk workshops and construction methodology development.
• Provide technical input into construction sequencing, work packaging and execution planning.
• Review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical submissions related to temporary works.
• Coordinate with designers, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers involved in temporary works engineering and delivery.
• Support the development of temporary works design briefs, design criteria and technical requirements.
• Identify engineering and constructability risks and contribute to the development of appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Support estimating and procurement teams by providing technical input related to temporary works quantities, methods, equipment and subcontracting requirements.
• Ensure temporary works solutions comply with applicable codes, standards, project requirements and Aecon’s engineering and safety procedures.
• Support the development and implementation of Temporary Works procedures, registers and design-control processes.
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical and construction teams.
• As the project progresses toward execution, provide engineering support for the installation, inspection, modification and removal of temporary works in the field.
• Promote a strong culture of engineering excellence, constructability and safety by design throughout the project.

What You Bring to the Team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada, or eligibility for registration in New Brunswick, is preferred.
• Relevant experience in temporary works engineering, structural engineering or construction engineering on major infrastructure projects.
• Experience with hydroelectric, dam, heavy civil, major infrastructure, industrial or complex rehabilitation projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of temporary works design principles and construction methodologies.
• Experience with temporary structures, shoring, formwork, falsework, access systems, excavation support and/or construction staging.
• Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and construction methodologies.
• Strong understanding of constructability and the interaction between engineering design and field execution.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical engineering solutions in complex construction environments.
• Excellent communication, coordination and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, construction, commercial, procurement and project controls teams.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, quality and engineering excellence.

The expected pay range for this role is $150,000 - $160,000 per year.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
