Title: Landing Pad Program Support Staff Fulltime

Reports To: Integrated Youth Programs Director

Position Details

• Hours: 40 hours per week- 1 year term-potential option to extend
• Wage Range: $26-$28.50
• Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

Summary
The Landing Pad Program Support Staff is responsible for supporting all duties and operations associated with the BGC Yukon Landing Pad, a housing and resource program for youth aged 17–24. The position requires a professional, trauma-informed, and dynamic individual who can respond effectively in high-pressure situations. This role includes supporting youth with care and intention, de-escalating complex behaviours, assisting with housing and basic needs, and contributing to the overall success of BGC Yukon youth programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

General Accountability

• Support youth accessing The Landing Pad through trauma-informed care and harm reduction practices.
• Collaborate with all BGC Yukon youth programs (Youth Drop-In, Age Out, etc.) as directed by the IYS Director.

Youth Development & Client Supervision:

• Assist in intake, discharge, evaluation, and orientation of youth.
• Monitor and document client behaviour and safety.
• Implement daily schedules and maintain a nurturing, inclusive environment.
• Assist in preparation for day-to-day client needs (meals, hygiene, medications).
• Engage with youth in daily activities and recreational programming.
• Identify and report any high-risk behaviour or safety concerns.

Program Administration & Documentation:

• Maintain accurate records, client logbooks, assessments, and communication logs.
• In depth understanding of BGCY policies and procedures.
• Participate in regular program staff meetings.
• Ensuring accurate and up to date documentation and well-organized maintenance of client files.
• Support the development of individual care plans and safety plans.
• Attend program meetings and contribute to planning and development.
• Ensure adherence to BGCY policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Relationship Building:

• Establish supportive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse youth populations.
• Mediate interpersonal conflicts and reinforce program expectations.

Operational & Facilities Support:

• Open and secure facilities as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment within the Landing Pad.
• Assist with IT, mail, equipment, and vehicle maintenance in collaboration with the Operations Director.
• Attend and assist in fundraising events as required.

Volunteer Coordination:

• Assist in volunteer recruitment, orientation, and supervision.
• Ensure volunteer experiences align with organizational goals and program needs.

Financial Support:

• Support program budgeting, documentation, and petty cash tracking.
• File receipts and assist with administrative compliance.

Qualifications

• Standard First Aid and CPR-C
• Class 5 Driver’s License
• Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
• WHMIS
• Food Safe Level 1
• Demonstrated experience in : Conflict resolution and crisis management; Harm reduction and trauma-informed care; Supporting high-needs youth; Low-barrier housing or shelter environments
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated time management and organizational abilities.
