About the position: Nakwaye Ku Early Learning Centre is seeking a 1:1 Supported Child Care Educator to join our learning community and provide individualized support to a child within our early learning program on our preschool side.

This position is an opportunity for an educator who is passionate about building meaningful relationships, supporting children's social-emotional development, and fostering inclusion through play, exploration, and connection.

As a 1:1 Supported Child Care Educator, you will work alongside the classroom teaching team to support a child's participation, well-being, learning, and sense of belonging throughout their day. You will build a trusting relationship with the child, respond to their individual needs and communication, and help create opportunities for them to engage meaningfully with their peers, educators, and environment.

We are looking for an educator who:

• Is passionate about early learning, child development, and supporting children's well-being.
• Is responsive, patient, compassionate, and attentive to children's individual cues and communication.
• Engages in reflective practice and is open to ongoing learning, feedback, and professional growth.
• Recognizes children's strengths, interests, and capabilities, rather than defining them by their support needs or diagnosis.
• Values social-emotional learning, co-regulation, and building secure, trusting relationships.
• Is curious about how children learn and is willing to adapt their approach to support individual needs.
• Believes in the importance of inclusion, belonging, and meaningful participation within the classroom community.
• Works collaboratively with educators, families, and support professionals.
• Is comfortable engaging in play, exploration, outdoor learning, and everyday moments of connection.
• Understands the importance of supporting children's independence, agency, and confidence while providing individualized assistance when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Build a trusting, respectful, and responsive relationship with the child.
• Provide individualized support throughout the daily program, including play, routines, transitions, outdoor experiences, and group activities.
• Support the child's participation and engagement alongside their peers and our team
• Collaborate with classroom educators to adapt activities, environments, and routines in response to the child's strengths and needs.
• Support social-emotional development, communication, co-regulation, and growing independence.
• Observe, reflect on, and share relevant information about the child's participation, learning, and well-being with the teaching team.
• Work collaboratively with the child's family and relevant support professionals, following established plans and recommendations.
• Participate in reflective practice, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all children.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience working with children in an early learning, childcare, education, or support setting.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• A commitment to inclusive, strengths-based, and responsive practice.
• Early Childhood Education certification (Level 3 preferred) and experience is an asset.
• Experience providing individualized support to children is an asset.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Doctors note that you are fit to work with children
• TB Clearance
• RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check
• Successful completion of applicable screening and centre requirements

Employment Type: Full Time

Start Date: October, as soon as possible

Hours: 40 hours per week

Wage: Level 3 $33.16
