About the Position Nakwaye Ku Early Learning Centre is looking to grow our team of Auxiliary On-Call Early Childhood Educators who have the flexibility and willingness to support our centre when coverage is needed.

Our auxiliary educators play an important role in maintaining continuity of care, supporting our teaching teams, and ensuring that children continue to experience a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment when regular staff are away or additional coverage is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide responsive, nurturing, and engaging care to children in accordance with the centre's philosophy, policies, and practices.
• Support classroom educators with daily routines, play-based learning, emergent curriculum, outdoor experiences, and transitions.
• Build meaningful relationships with children while supporting their sense of belonging, safety, and well-being.
• Adapt to different classroom environments and support the unique needs of the children and teaching teams.
• Participate in social-emotional learning opportunities, group experiences, and child-led exploration.
• Follow established classroom routines, safety procedures, and supervision expectations.
• Work collaboratively with educators to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
• Communicate openly and professionally with team members and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
• Demonstrate flexibility and initiative when responding to changing classroom needs and coverage requirements.
• Support the overall well-being and functioning of the centre as part of our broader learning community.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience working with children in an early learning, childcare, education, or related support setting is an asset.
• Early Childhood Education certification or relevant education and experience is an asset. (Level 3 preferred)
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• A commitment to inclusive, strengths-based, and responsive practice.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
• Flexibility and willingness to work on an as-needed basis.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
• TB clearance
• Doctors Note; fit to work with children
• RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check
• Successful completion of applicable screening and centre requirements.

Location: Nakwaye Ku Early Learning Centre, Yukon University

Employment Type: Auxiliary / On-Call

Hours: As needed, based on centre coverage requirements and educator availability.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Wage: $21.75 - $33.16
