Job Summary
Export Development Canada (EDC) is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to drive operational efficiency, enhance reporting accuracy, and align technology solutions with evolving business needs across financial systems, insurance reporting, and corporate accounting. Operating in an Agile environment, this role combines stakeholder engagement, requirements discovery, user-story creation in Azure DevOps (ADO), solution design, user acceptance testing (UAT), functional troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and vendor coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between business lines and technical teams to facilitate requirement discovery, development, testing, and iterative refinement for an insurance management platform.
- Contribute to team-level Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and align initiatives with broader organizational goals.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, product owners, developers, testers, IT architects, and external vendors through issue resolution and solution delivery.
Requirements & Agile Solution Design
- Identify business needs and define, validate, and document requirements for software enhancements.
- Author detailed, actionable user stories and clear acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Adapt and refine Agile practices to align with organizational culture, governance, and compliance standards.
Financial Systems, Insurance & Corporate Reporting
- Troubleshoot complex financial transaction issues and coordinate platform enhancements to improve overall reporting accuracy.
- Analyze insurance data inconsistencies and corporate reporting challenges, helping business units visualize root causes and recommended actions.
- Collaborate with IT architects to support strategic roadmap development across financial systems, loan management, and underwriting applications.
Testing, Support & Governance
- Triage problem tickets and bugs, perform root-cause analysis (RCA), and work closely with developers on solutioning.
- Support business users through User Acceptance Testing (UAT), upgrade testing, and functional troubleshooting.
- Coordinate deployment documentation, readiness reviews, and formal release approvals.
Mandatory Technical Requirements (C3)
- Financial Systems Knowledge: Direct experience working with financial systems, insurance reporting, and corporate accounting.
- Azure DevOps User Stories: Strong experience (minimum 5 years) crafting detailed, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Agile Delivery Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience applying Agile methodologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support successful solution delivery.
- Testing & Support: Demonstrated experience supporting business users with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and functional troubleshooting.
Rated Qualifications & Assets (C4)
- Domain Systems: Proven experience with financial systems, loan management systems, and underwriting applications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong, structured approach to engaging product owners, developers, testers, business stakeholders, and vendors to manage delivery expectations.
- Specialized Domain Background: Deep business analysis experience in insurance services or investment management, alongside an understanding of risk models and financial reporting.
- Technical Assets: Knowledge of Power BI for reporting analysis.
- Visual Artifacts: Ability to create and leverage screen mockups and visual artifacts using tools such as Miro or Mural.
