Our company is looking for a Senior Manager, Engineering to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Work with engineering, product, and UX stakeholders to facilitate project delivery;
- Recruit and retain the best talent across the globe;
- Collaborate with the team on setting the product and technical roadmaps along with plans for getting us there;
- Work with other engineering managers to help drive cultural changes across the organization;
- Oversee a distributed team of highly motivated engineers spanning all experience levels, from first-time intern to principal engineer, and managers;
- Participating in your team’s on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise;
- Set clear direction for the team, anticipating scaling-related challenges through thoughtful and strategic planning;
- Coach and mentor team and support professional development and growth;
- Address high priority needs to grow current offering, while bringing operational excellence as our platform matures;
- Support engineering team by removing obstacles establishing best practices to increase productivity and ensure your team produces extraordinary output;
- Manage Engineering processes, workflows and schedules to support multiple high impact business initiatives;
- Actively collaborate with business teams and product managers on product iterations;
- Develop and nurture a positive and collaborative culture that embodies Wish’s values;
- Evangelize and represent your team, their vision, strategy and results to both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- You can still code if needed (though that won’t be the primary function of this role);
- Understand the balance between planning out work and just getting things done, between getting your hands dirty and getting out of the team’s way;
- You are not a micromanager. You enable and empower a team to do great work beyond what you could accomplish on your own;
- Experience managing healthy and high achieving teams;
- Significant engineering leadership experience, including managing managers or team leads;
- Have worked on large scale systems and know the pitfalls that can come with under or over engineering;
- Have a deep understanding of agile principles and how to apply them effectively.
