ABOUT THE ROLE

The Chronic Pain Program requires a highly organized team player who will join our interprofessional team to assist us in carrying out the mission of St. Joseph's Care Group.

Reporting to the Manager - Chronic Pain Management Program & Project ECHO the Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) working with the Chronic Pain Management Program will provide Physical and Administrative support (in person and virtually) as well as carry out treatment programs and conduct fitness assessments for program clients. The Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) is responsible for carrying out treatment programs and conduct fitness assessments for program clients.

The RA is responsible for carrying out and supervising elements of treatment programs under the direction/supervision of the Occupational Therapist Physiotherapist and Exercise Specialists as directed by regulatory/professional practice standards and/or guidelines of the supervising health care professional. The RA may also be supporting administrative elements of client's participation in programming.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Diploma/degree from a recognized two-year Rehabilitation Assistant program (equivalent combination of a similar post-secondary program focusing on physical rehabilitation (e.g. Kinesiology) and experience working in rehabilitation assistant capacity will be considered).
• Previous experience working directly with clients in a healthcare facility is preferred
• Working knowledge and experience with theories and principles of guiding adult learning and client self-management approaches

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing
• Strong time management prioritization and organization skills to effectively address multiple tasks/duties and timelines in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment
• Analytical/critical thinking problem-solving and decision making skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software
• Demonstrated regular attendance

Asset:

• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
• Demonstrated knowledge skills and experience working with Indigenous people and people of other diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is considered an asset
• Experience working with 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals is considered an asset

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
