The Manager, Capital Projects is accountable for the planning, execution, and safe delivery of capital projects across the Hemlo operation. This role provides leadership and oversight for the capital project portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The Manager, Capital Projects is responsible for long-term capital planning, project prioritization, budgeting, resource allocation, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement to support the site's operational and strategic objectives. The role works collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services, Environmental, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to successfully deliver projects that create sustainable value for the operation.
What you'll need to succeed
- B.Sc / B.Eng in Engineering or technical field preferred but not necessary depending upon experience.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in mining, industrial construction, or heavy industrial operations, including at least 5 years leading capital projects with responsibility for safety, budget, schedule, contractor management, and project delivery.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) training or certification
- Proven track record in managing underground and surface mining projects including processing and tailings facilities.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, mineral processing, and tailings management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
