As Hatch continues to grow its presence in Northern Ontario, we are seeking an experienced Highway and Road CAD Designer to play a key role in delivering some of the region's most impactful transportation infrastructure projects. Based in Thunder Bay, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of complex highway and roadway projects while helping shape the future of transportation networks across Northern Ontario.

Recently, Hatch was selected by  Marten Falls First Nation as its engineering and project management partner for the transformative  Marten Falls Community Access Road , a landmark Northern Ontario infrastructure project that will provide year-round access to the community for the first time while supporting economic development, Indigenous partnership, and future regional growth.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work on major MTO and municipal transportation projects alongside industry-leading professionals, while mentoring the next generation of engineers and helping grow Hatch's transportation practice in Northwestern Ontario. As the successful candidate, you will:

• Work with project managers and project Engineers to accomplish various tasks associated with various projects;
• Participation in the preliminary and detailed design of roads and highways in both rural and urban environment;
• Undertaking drafting and design work for civil engineering projects, roadway geometric design including design of intersections and interchanges, roadside safety analysis, design of pavement marking and signage, traffic staging design, and quantity calculations;
• Assistance to project managers and/or engineers with preparation of design and contract documents including technical and other project specifications;
• Prepare reports and document project activities and data;
• Be progressive, imaginative and enthusiastic in the work and strive to add value where possible for the benefit of the company and our clients.

You bring to the role:

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Technician from an accredited College;
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with highway and road design;
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and 2D drafting is required;
• Working experience with InRoads / OpenRoads would be an asset;
• Experience in the use of provincial transportation specific software;
• Experience working on MTO projects/designs;
• Good technical and communication skills are a necessity;
• Ability to work on several projects concurrently;
• Ability to solve problems, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and meet project deadlines;
• Ability to work in a team environment;
• Experience within a consultancy environment specifically in the Civil Engineering industry is preferred.

Pay range: $60,000 to $77,000

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
