Position Summary NAITSA is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable student to join our Finance team as an Accounting Assistant. This position offers hands-on experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, and financial administration in a supportive and flexible environment. Ideal candidates are accounting students in their 2nd year or higher, looking to build practical experience in their field. Multiple positions are available.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to emails and messages related to finance and accounts payable


• Answer basic accounts payable inquiries


• Review and process accounts payable transactions


• Record daily sales entries for the front desk, The Nest, and the on-site ATM


• Support financial transactions for student clubs


• Prepare and distribute monthly Visa reports


• Match Visa receipts to reports and identify discrepancies


• Maintain spreadsheets and shared drive documentation


• File and organize financial paperwork


• Post journal entries under supervision


• Assist with report preparation as requested

Who We’re Looking For

• Must be a NAIT student in good standing and enrolled for the 2025–26 academic year


• Preference will be given to students who are in their 2nd year or higher of the Accounting program; equivalent work experience may be considered


• Must be available to work minimum 3-hour shifts in-office during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM) with no class conflicts


• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills


• Proficient in Excel and/or Google Sheets


• Able to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively


• A clear communicator and collaborative team player


• Must successfully complete a criminal background check (paid for by NAITSA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work experience in an accounting or finance-related role


• Familiarity with accounting principles and financial software

Hours of Work This is a part-time, temporary position beginning September 2025 and ending April 30, 2026 , with the possibility of extension. Hours are flexible and vary weekly (up to 20 hours/week, depending on availability).
