Your role:

This is a work term position that provides students with the opportunity to experience working in a public accounting firm while working closely with experienced professionals. The successful candidate must be in the process of completing a business degree. As a co-op student, you will join a general practice team and will participate in all aspects of client service:

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing client accounting records, financial statements, corporate and personal income tax returns.


• Draft and review financial statements


• Plan and execute entry to level compilation engagements including preparation of financial statements and applicable tax filings such as T2s, T4s, T5S, GST & WCB and other compliance returns


• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to continuously improve technical skills


• Prepare journal entries, individual and corporate tax returns


• Conduct research on professional and technical matters


• Prepare entry level personal income tax returns and related schedules


• Support various projects and admin tasks as required
  

What you bring to the table:

• Strong desire and dedication to work and learn in a dynamic work environment


• Excellent communication and analytical skills


• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 2nd or 3rd year student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field


• Completion of one or more financial accounting and/or tax courses


• Knowledge of basic accounting principles


• Strong organizational and time-management skills.


• Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.

Job type:  Term, Full-time

Your schedule:  Monday to Friday

Working Conditions: The co-op student will be expected to work in an office environment. During peak periods, there may be a requirement to work overtime to meet project deadlines and support team needs.
