IT Service Desk Assistant (summer student)

Serving as a member of the IT Services team, the IT Service Desk Assistant will have the opportunity to work within the Board's multi-tiered enterprise technology environment, providing first class technical support and services to staff across all of our locations in the Niagara region.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

• Provide technology support to our staff both on site and through our IT Service desk,
• Resolve technical issues with operating systems, software and hardware,
• Support users both remotely and in person at any of our Board sites throughout the Niagara region.

WHAT YOU BRING:

• Enrollment in a post-secondary computer/technology-based program preferred,
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills,
• Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities,
• Team-oriented with a customer service mindset,
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment,
• Excellent time management and organizational skills,
• Experience with computer system maintenance, software support, and troubleshooting,
• Familiarity with networked environments and basic networking protocols/hardware,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows (desktop/server) and Microsoft Office Suite,
• An understanding of networking equipment (e.g., routers, switches),
• Willingness to travel within the Board's jurisdiction; access to reliable transportation required,
• Physically able to lift and transport equipment up to 20kg.

This is a summer student position.

HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Beginning June 30, 2025, the work week will shift to Monday to Thursday with Fridays off as part of the summer condensed schedule.

LOCATION: Data Centre Operations (68 Eastchester Ave, St. Catharines, ON)

RATE OF PAY: $17.20 per hour
