Job Responsibility:
The Parallel Ag group is a group of independent crop input retailers serving growers in the Manitoba marketplace.
Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements of assigned business partners and for providing support to staff in recording of transactions.
Duties and Responsibilities include,
- Prepare timely financial statements that present fairly the financial position of assigned business partners.
- Maintain complete working papers, and necessary back-up documentation.
- Analyze and review financial statements for reasonableness. Ensure balances are correct and information is complete.
- Prepare year-end financial statements with supporting working papers and back-ups, ready for review by the outside accountants.
- Assist outside accountants during their review of year-end financial statements.
- Prepare financial analysis reports.
- Recommend internal control procedures.
- Provide accounting support to business partners.
- Monitor and review business partner financials for errors or discrepancies.
- Monitor and follow up on inventory count schedules and cut-off.
- Assist business partners with accounting system training and reporting.
- Respond to queries from government agencies.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in Commerce/Business with a major in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with accounting and financial analysis in a computerized environment.
- Proficient in the preparation of monthly financial statements and maintenance of electronic working papers.
- Proficient in accounting and/or auditing and strong understanding of accounting principles;
- Ability to work within the budget time and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
This position is part time, flexible (estimated 80 hours/month), remote and offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. Some travel within Manitoba may be required.
