Intermediate Property Accountant

You as an Intermediate Accountant, Property Accounting will:
- Month-end/Recurring journal entries
- Preparation of monthly reporting packages (including financial statements)
- Preparation of quarterly reporting packages (including financial statements, work papers and supporting schedules)
- Intercompany charge backs
- Tenant account reconciliations
- Preparation of annual budget
- Preparation of annual final CAM and Tax billing/lease review
- Preparation of annual year-end audit working papers and liaison with auditors during field work period
- Preparation of tenant/vendor chargebacks as needed
- Liaise with Property Managers and Asset Managers regarding related accounting matters
- Cash flow management and cash calls when required, updating rent rolls and collection management
- Other duties as assigned
Is this the right role for you? You will bring:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise financial reports.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and resolve discrepancies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Property Managers and Asset Managers.
Education:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Preference will be given to individuals with a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation. Completed or in progress.
Experience:
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in property accounting, preferably within commercial or retail real estate.
- OR 2+ years of CA firm-based experience within Audit
- Strong familiarity with property management/accounting software; MRI preferred is a strong asset.
