Your New Role

Reporting to the VP Finance, the Property Accountant will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of commercial office and retail properties totaling approximately 550,000 square feet.

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties
• Preparing monthly financial statements, reporting packages, and supporting working papers
• Managing month-end and year-end close processes
• Completing balance sheet and bank reconciliations
• Maintaining property general ledgers and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
• Processing tenant billings, rent charges, and tenant receipts
• Reconciling tenant accounts and resolving discrepancies
• Administering additional rent recoveries and operating cost reconciliations
• Maintaining lease information within Yardi, including amendments, renewals, and escalations
• Analyzing operating results and investigating financial variances
• Supporting audits, HST filings, and other compliance requirements
• Working closely with property management and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and tenant accounting
• Assisting with process improvements and special projects as required

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be considered for this role, you will possess:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property accounting
• Experience accounting for office properties
• A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
• Experience with Yardi Voyager or a similar property management/accounting system
• Strong Excel and financial reporting skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accountability
• A stable employment history demonstrating reliability and commitment
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
• A flexible, hands-on approach and positive attitude
