Software Developer – Team Lead

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people worldwide, is seeking a Software Developer Team Lead with a passion for technology and education. As part of the Integrations team, you will lead engineering efforts to design and develop tools and systems that simplify the integration of IXL with schools and districts, helping to work seamlessly with the technology ecosystems of our customers. This is a full‑time position in our Toronto, Ontario office. The work schedule is Monday‑Friday in the office with the option to work from home one day per week.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead engineering efforts, which includes planning projects, developing estimates, assigning work, and tracking status
• Drive the development process for the team, including designing, coding, documenting, testing, debugging, and tuning
• Collaborate and communicate clearly across multiple development teams
• Work cross‑functionally with product managers, designers, and QA to maintain and exceed product usability and quality standards
• Provide excellent project management direction and motivation to the team
• Thrive in a fast‑paced and dynamic work environment

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• Excellent programming skills in Java or another object‑oriented language
• PostgreSQL, SQL, and data architecture experience is a plus
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills
• Strong analytical‑reasoning and problem‑solving skills
• Passion for improving education through technology

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Compensation: $102,480 – $153,720 annually
