Course Description:
First of two courses in Canadian income taxation. It provides the student with detailed instruction in income taxation as it applies to individuals and small unincorporated businesses. Current tax laws are applied to practical problems and cases. Covers employment income, business and property income, and computation of tax for individuals.

Qualifications:
Minimum: CPA, CA designation; demonstrated teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of subject area; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level or similar environment; several years related professional experience.
Preferred qualifications: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours, and maintaining reasonable availability for student and administrative contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to the course.
Duties:
This is course is taught jointly by two instructors. All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student and administrative contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to course.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
In considering qualified applicants, teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of subject area; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level or similar environment; several years related professional experience shall be the criteria used in the selection of the most qualified candidate in accordance with Article 14:12 .

Salary for a half-course (0.50 FCEs) inclusive of vacation pay: The Sessional Lecturer I rate of pay will be $9,99.47. Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,699.22. Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $10,699.22. Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,953.96. Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $10,953.96. Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term rate of pay will be $11,228.90.
