Senior Lawyer - Business Law (Transactional, Predominantly English Practice)

Our client, a leading international law firm based in Montréal, is seeking a Senior Transactional Business Lawyer recognized for the quality of their legal drafting in English.
The firm is looking to welcome a professional with an exceptional command of legal writing, capable of drafting, reviewing, and structuring complex transactional documents in English, in close collaboration with the firm’s partners.
This is a key role, strongly focused on legal execution and high-level transactional work, ideal for a lawyer who wishes to concentrate on transactional practice without the constant pressure of business development.
The Role
- Work primarily on cross-border and pan-Canadian transactions
- Collaborate closely with partners in the preparation, drafting, and review of transactional documents in English
- Draft contracts, agreements, commercial arrangements, and closing documents in English
- Act as second chair on complex and structuring matters
- Work alongside legal teams across Canada and internationally
- Occasional client interaction, without this being the core focus of the role
Profile Sought
- Approximately 10 years of experience or more in transactional business law
- English-dominant practice required, both written and spoken
- Outstanding legal drafting and document review skills in English
- Comfortable in a strategic, rigorous, and highly technical support role
- No book of business required
- A portable book of business is an asset, but not essential
- Clear desire to focus on legal practice rather than business development
