Lead STEM Instructor & Centre Operations Manager

Location: Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia

Position Type: Part-Time Leadership Position (15–25 hours per week)

We are seeking an energetic, organized, and entrepreneurial leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of RoboThink Halifax. This individual will play a key leadership role in delivering exceptional STEM programs while ensuring operational excellence across all classes, camps, workshops, and special events.

Position Summary

The Lead STEM Instructor & Centre Operations Manager is responsible for the successful delivery and growth of RoboThink Halifax programs. This role combines instructional leadership, operations management, instructor supervision, customer service, inventory management, and business development.

The successful candidate will lead STEM classes while ensuring all robotics equipment, curriculum materials, and classrooms are fully prepared for each session. They will also be responsible for supporting business growth through community partnerships, student retention, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

STEM Program Leadership

• Deliver engaging RoboThink robotics and STEM classes for students aged 4–14.
• Ensure every class delivers an exceptional student experience.
• Maintain RoboThink curriculum and instructional standards.
• Adapt teaching methods to different age groups and learning abilities.
• Foster creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.

Operations Management

• Manage the day-to-day operations of RoboThink Halifax.
• Prepare classrooms before every class.
• Ensure all robotics kits are complete, organized, cleaned, and ready for instruction.
• Inspect robotics parts, motors, sensors, controllers, batteries, tablets, laptops, and accessories.
• Charge batteries and electronic devices as required.
• Maintain inventory records and report damaged or missing equipment.
• Coordinate repairs and replacement of equipment.
• Prepare teaching materials for classes, workshops, birthday parties, camps, and special events.
• Organize storage and transportation of RoboThink equipment between locations.

Instructor Leadership

• Assist with recruiting, training, mentoring, and supporting STEM instructors.
• Coordinate instructor schedules.
• Monitor instructional quality.
• Provide coaching and feedback.
• Ensure consistent delivery of RoboThink programs across all locations.

Customer Experience

• Build strong relationships with students and parents.
• Respond to customer inquiries professionally.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly.
• Encourage student retention and repeat registrations.
• Promote a welcoming and professional learning environment.

Business Development

• Support enrollment growth across all RoboThink programs.
• Develop relationships with schools, recreation centres, libraries, and community organizations.
• Assist with marketing events, demonstrations, and promotional activities.
• Identify opportunities for new classes, camps, workshops, and partnerships.
• Support achievement of annual enrollment and revenue goals.

Administration

• Maintain attendance records.
• Prepare weekly operational updates.
• Track inventory and equipment usage.
• Monitor program quality and customer feedback.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, operational, and child protection policies.

Qualifications

Required

• Experience leading teams, programs, or operations.
• Experience working with children in education, camps, coaching, or youth programs.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between teaching locations.

Preferred

• Background in STEM education, robotics, coding, engineering, technology, or education.
• Experience managing educational programs.
• Experience with inventory management and logistics.
• Sales, marketing, or community partnership experience.

Compensation

Employment Type

Part-Time Leadership Position with flexible scheduling averaging 15–25 hours per week , including after-school programs, weekends, camps, and occasional special events.

Hourly Compensation

• Competitive hourly wage of $25.00–$35.00 per hour , based on experience, leadership capability, and performance.
• Hourly compensation applies to approved teaching, operational management, instructor support, business development, and administrative responsibilities.

Performance-Based Revenue Sharing

In addition to the hourly wage, the Lead STEM Instructor & Centre Operations Manager will participate in a performance-based revenue sharing program designed to reward long-term business growth.

The successful candidate will be eligible to receive 5%–10% of the monthly net revenue generated from recurring RoboThink Halifax classes under their management.

For the purposes of this program, net revenue is defined as tuition revenue collected after applicable refunds, discounts, taxes, instructor payroll, venue rental fees, and other direct program delivery expenses have been deducted.

The applicable revenue share percentage will be determined based on agreed performance objectives, including:

• Growth in student enrollment
• Student retention
• Operational excellence
• Customer satisfaction
• Program quality
• Leadership performance

Additional Incentives

Additional performance incentives may include:

• Commission for securing new schools or community partnerships.
• Performance incentives for successful management of Summer Camps and PD Day Camps.
• Bonuses for coordinating birthday parties, workshops, and special events.
• Annual performance bonus based on achievement of business objectives and overall centre performance.

Specific compensation details, commission rates, eligibility requirements, and performance metrics will be outlined in the employee's Employment Agreement and may be reviewed periodically.
