Resourcing Lead
NEWTON INDUSTRIAL CONSULTANTS LTD
Job Responsibilities
- Own the detailed resourcing process end-to-end, from intake of a new project through to staffing recommendation, decision, and handover to the project lead, balancing project needs, individual development, and the long‑term success of Isaac.
- Build trusted relationships across the consulting team, acting as the go‑to advisor on resourcing decisions and a sounding board for staffing questions.
- Anticipate future demand by partnering with project and client leads, highlighting trade‑offs and shaping resourcing decisions early to drive timely outcomes.
- Respond to changing circumstances by re‑prioritising and re‑staffing in real time as projects evolve – scope changes, client escalations, sick days and last‑minute requests – resetting expectations clearly when things shift.
- Maintain a clear, current view of who is working on what, who is available, and where capability gaps are emerging across the team.
- Develop and maintain capacity models, utilisation reporting and forecasts that translate the project pipeline into a concrete staffing plan weeks ahead of need.
- Translate vague requests into concrete next steps, named owners and agreed dates, bringing clarity so everyone leaves each meeting knowing what was decided and who does what.
Key Qualities
- A strong facilitator who reads a room, frames choices and brings structure to ambiguity, pushing senior groups toward decisions.
- Mental agility – juggling multiple projects, people, deadlines and competing priorities while keeping all threads clear.
- A skilled negotiator who holds the line on what matters, finds creative trade‑offs and brings the team together to make tough calls.
- A structured, visual thinker who breaks complex situations into visuals, models and frameworks, delivering just the right level of detail.
- A relationship builder who formalises trusted connections across all levels and adapts communication style to the moment.
- Highly organised, managing priorities, details and preventing anything from slipping through the cracks.
- Disciplined, dealing with sensitive information about people, projects and strategy with integrity.
- Eager to learn and grow, actively seeking new skills, knowledge and expertise.
Qualifications
- 5‑7 years of experience in resourcing, capacity planning or workforce planning – ideally in professional services, consulting or another project‑based environment.
- Track record of staffing project‑based work, matching skills, seniority and development needs against project requirements.
- Comfortable partnering with senior stakeholders, providing data‑backed recommendations and influencing decisions at the leadership table.
- Experience building and maintaining capacity models, utilisation reporting and resourcing forecasts in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong experience with resource management tooling (e.g. Float, Runn, Kantata or similar), strong Excel skills and a habit of using AI to accelerate work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of building relationships across all levels of the business.
- Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with change management is a strong asset, particularly in managing transitions and building stakeholder buy‑in.
Benefits
- Opportunities for career development and growth in a fast‑growing company.
- Meaningful impact on clients through tangible results.
- Five weeks of vacation, plus frequent company development and social events.
- A comprehensive benefits package fully covered by the company, including generous annual wellness allowances.
- Work‑life balance with no weekend work.
- Recognition as one of the top 10 Great Places to Work in Canada for the past six consecutive years.
