Plant Manager – Supply Chain

Reporting to the Vice President, Supply Chain. Overview

The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of Wakefield’s manufacturing plant, including health and safety, expense management, service level, and quality performance. The role requires collaboration with the Production Planning, Inventory and Demand Planning, and Distribution Operations teams to balance conversion cost, inventory carrying cost, and service level. Key Responsibilities

Ensure HSSE principles and standards are integrated throughout the operation and establish measurable objectives. Execute all annual manufacturing objectives and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Develop and manage the departmental operating budget based on demand forecast, plant capacities, and human resources. Conduct industrial and labour relations in accordance with human resource policies, for both unionized and non‑unionized team members. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and partner cross‑functionally to align with Supply Chain goals. Provide strategic support to the Supply Chain Management team and the VP Supply Chain. Key Competencies

Broad understanding of multiple disciplines and business practices. Strong leadership with ability to work cross‑functionally to solve problems and improve processes. In-depth knowledge of operations management in a manufacturing plant, production planning, engineering, HSSE management, and industrial relations. Robust project management skills, including project controls, change management, and selection. Business acumen with understanding of financial and non‑financial KPIs. Knowledge of health, safety, security, environment and regulatory compliance practices. Experience in budget development and target setting for plant operations. Qualifications

Minimum of 6 years of experience in supply chain management with a focus on manufacturing operations, ERP systems, change management, HSSE, and compliance. Undergraduate degree in science or engineering preferred; extensive work experience may substitute. Experience managing multiple third‑party contractors and suppliers, including contract and legal/regulatory issues related to HSSE. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, planning, scheduling, production, quality systems, risk management, and operations planning. Expertise in business planning, forecasting, demand planning, inventory management, master scheduling, and supply‑demand balancing. Strong problem‑solving, communication, negotiation, planning, and leadership skills. Exposure to diverse cultures and environments. Knowledge of lubricants, special chemicals, or FMCG businesses is an asset. Working Conditions
