Primary Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Branch Director, the position provides a broad range of administrative services to the Organizing and Mobilization Sections and support to the Director of the Regional Offices Branch on administrative matters related to the operational and strategic goals of the Organizing and Mobilization programs.What you will bring to the table:
Education/Experience
- Successful completion of post-secondary education in Administration or a relevant field and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience relative to the duties of the position;
- Prior experience working with labour or political organization, some familiarity with government organizations, practices and procedures and demonstrated commitment to union and social justice principles.
Knowledge
- Strong organization, administrative, meeting and planning skills combined with a minimum of three years related experience;
- General knowledge of bookkeeping to perform assigned tasks such as account reconciliations, recording financial transactions, and preparing basic reports;
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, database applications and the ability to operate office equipment.
Abilities
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others in a team environment;
- Strong written and oral communication skills, proficiency in spelling and grammar, in the language level assigned to the position, for proofreading, editing and formatting documents;
- Strong time management skills to deal effectively with multiple tasks, changing priorities and strict deadlines.
Personal suitability
- High degree of confidentiality, self-motivation, initiative, good judgment, adaptability, problem-solving and reliability coupled with strong attention to details and organizational service skills.
What you need to know:
- Second language skills as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level indicated above. Federal Government valid SLE results can be used toward this. Preferred candidates may have their second language skills assessed as part of the hiring process.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
