A publicly traded company with a strong balance sheet and significant real estate holdings, they operate a lean and high‑performing finance function where analytical rigour directly shapes commercial outcomes.

This Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis role is a backfill for a high‑performing incumbent who was promoted internally – a testament to the growth available within the organization. Reporting into the Director of Finance, you will lead a small team of two Senior Financial Analysts while serving as the primary finance business partner to the Merchandising and Buying teams. The expectation is clear: this is not a desk job. You will be embedded with buyers, walking the floor with merchants, and translating data into decisions that move sales and margin.

The role sits at the intersection of finance, data, and retail operations. You will own the analytical layer that supports merchandising strategy – from promotional planning and pricing to inventory health and margin performance. Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Merchandising and Buying teams to support pricing, promotional planning, and assortment decisions through data‑driven financial insights
• Analyze retail‑specific performance metrics – inventory turns, GMROI, sell‑through, comp sales, and markdowns – and translate findings into clear recommendations for merchants and Finance leadership
• Own budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across merchandising, supply chain, and store operations
• Build and maintain automated reporting tools and dashboards that enhance KPI visibility for both Finance and operational stakeholders
• Manage and direct two Senior Financial Analysts, reviewing deliverables and maintaining quality across the team's output
• Act as a trusted liaison between Finance and the business – building relationships that ensure insights are understood and acted upon
• Support ad hoc financial modeling, scenario analysis, and strategic initiatives as they arise

What You Bring

• 5+ years in FP&A, commercial finance, or retail finance; retail or CPG sales finance background strongly preferred
• Direct experience partnering with merchandising and/or buying teams on promotional planning, pricing, and margin management – this is a must
• Hands‑on analysis of retail‑specific metrics: inventory turns, GMROI, sell‑through, comp sales, and markdowns
• Advanced Excel and experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau); SQL and Python are assets
• Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle Fusion or equivalent)
• Strong communicator – able to translate complex data into clear narratives for non‑finance audiences
• High tolerance for fast pace and pressure; a bias toward presence and relationship‑building
