Energy Trader On Congestion Team Calgary

Join Capital Power as an Energy Trader, focusing on quantitative congestion strategies in Calgary. This full time role involves managing trading operations while supporting asset optimization and driving long-term strategies. In this permanent position within Capital Power’s Congestion Team, the Energy Trader will report to the Head Trader and contribute by optimizing our trading portfolio.
Ideal candidates possess robust quantitative skills combined with commercial insight. If you thrive on managing risks and contributing to a growing team, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement long-term congestion strategies
- Support congestion exposure management for the generation portfolio
- Liaise with Risk and Credit teams for coordinated strategies
- Collaborate with trading teams to identify market opportunities
- Report exposure and P&L insights to management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field
- 5+ years in energy trading or analytics
- Robust communication and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in Excel, SQL, and Python
- Knowledge of ETRM systems and industry modelling tools
