Accounting Assistant (Restaurant Industry)

Job Responsibility:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Accounting Assistant with a strong background in accounting, familiarity with restaurant operations, and even some knowledge of cooking. This unique role requires someone who can manage financial records efficiently while understanding the day-to-day dynamics of a restaurant kitchen and service environment.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, comfortable with numbers, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting. Experience in the restaurant industry (either in accounting or operations) is a plus, as this role bridges finance and kitchen workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Duties:

• Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoices and supplier payments.
• Assist with payroll processing for kitchen and front-of-house staff.
• Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
• Reconcile daily sales reports with POS (Point of Sale) system data.
• Track food and beverage inventory costs and assist in cost-control analysis.
• Prepare weekly/monthly financial reports for management.
• Assist in budgeting and expense tracking for kitchen operations.

Restaurant & Kitchen Support:

• Understand basic food costing and menu pricing to assist in profitability analysis.
• Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to track ingredient usage and waste.
• Occasionally assist with inventory counts and supply ordering.
• Knowledge of food safety and kitchen workflows is a plus.

Administrative & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and labor laws.
• Maintain organized records for audits and inspections.
• Assist with scheduling and labor cost tracking.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience:
• 1+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience (restaurant industry preferred).
• Familiarity with restaurant POS systems (e.g., Toast, Square, Aloha).
• Basic knowledge of cooking, food prep, or kitchen operations is a big plus .
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Good communication skills to interact with both finance and kitchen teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.80-$20.00 per hour
