Medical Lead - Friedreich Ataxia

Biogen seeks a Medical Lead to direct scientific strategy for Friedreich Ataxia across the Canadian affiliate. The role combines medical planning, evidence generation, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional leadership to support product lifecycle activities and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of Friedreich Ataxia medical strategy and annual plans aligned with regional and global priorities
- Identify evidence gaps and drive evidence-generation strategies including real-world data and company-sponsored research
- Establish medical objectives, success metrics, and monitor progress; adjust priorities based on stakeholder and business needs
- Lead Key Medical Expert engagement, advisory boards, and scientific consultations to inform strategic recommendations
- Develop scientific communications, medical education initiatives, and provide scientific leadership to Medical Science Liaisons
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MSc, PharmD, PhD, or MD) in health or life sciences
- Minimum 7 years of Medical Affairs experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology
- Demonstrated track record developing and executing affiliate medical plans
- Strong regulatory, safety, legal, and compliance knowledge
- Ability to communicate complex scientific data to diverse audiences
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in matrix organizations
- Project and budget management capabilities with 30-40% travel availability
Compensation: $136,000–$182,000 base, plus discretionary bonus and incentive opportunities
