Our client, a growing manufacturer of custom equipment for the mining and industrial sectors, is seeking a Lead Mechatronics Engineer to strengthen its electrical and automation capabilities. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you will influence engineering standards, guide projects from concept through commissioning, and help shape the future of the controls team.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Establish and lead the company’s controls engineering discipline, including standards, templates, and best practices

• Design, review, approve, and seal electrical control systems, schematics, wiring diagrams, and related engineering documents

• Develop, review, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications using Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, IQAN, and other automation platforms

• Ensure designs comply with CSA, CEC, UL, NFPA, IEC, machinery safety, and customer requirements

• Lead Factory Acceptance Testing and support Site Acceptance Testing, equipment commissioning, and customer start-up

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, and technologists

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline

• A P.Eng. designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario, with the ability to review, approve, and seal engineering documents

• At least five years of industrial controls and automation engineering experience

• Strong experience with PLC programming, HMI development, electrical controls, VFDs, and industrial automation systems

• Knowledge of applicable CSA, CEC, UL, NFPA, IEC, and machinery safety standards

• Strong engineering judgment, leadership abilities, and experience supporting FAT, SAT, and equipment commissioning
