TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) - Security Specialist

What you will do

• Providing Security Guard Services at TTC assigned locations
• Monitoring and foot patrolling assigned areas
• Observing, investigating and acting on possible breaches of security, fire and safety hazards, illegal entry, theft, and malfunction or interruption of utilities
• Providing a highly visible presence with professional knowledge of security protocols and ability to react in multiple scenarios
• Be present on the subway platforms and assist TTC Supervisors/staff with redirecting people off the trains and out of the stations
• Attend various TTC subway stations in the downtown core and as required to assist with station openings and closings
• Act as an ambassador of the client site by creating a presence that builds a safe and welcoming setting for all service users, employees, and visitors
• Provide customer service, respond to inquiries and perform guarded tours along designated routes
• Inform designated authorities in the event of security, fire, or health emergencies
• Escort designated authorities, police, fire, and ambulance personnel to emergency locations
• Document all security incidents into a clear, concise, complete, and accurate security incident report
• Record and maintain a logbook of daily activities, unusual or special occurrences, and issuance of equipment to staff
• Receive and record complaints, conduct investigations, prepare incident reports, and conduct follow‑up investigations
• Liaise with TTC management to communicate any issues and challenges to site operations and report any health and safety or fire and life safety concerns
• Other duties as assigned

Who you are

• 1 year of Canadian Police or Canadian Armed Forces experience (asset)
• Graduate from a recognized community college in law enforcement, security administration or a related field (including justice studies, social service, mental health, and/or healthcare)
• Minimum of 2 years experience within the North American security industry and experience in a related security function
• Hands‑on experience with making or assisting arrests
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Strong communication and observation skills
• Ability to work in high‑stress environments
• Ability to make quick and informed decisions
• Must have the ability to perform the physical aspects of this position, including standing and walking for an entire shift in tactical gear
• Licensed by the Province of Ontario as a registered Security Guard and must maintain the license for the duration of employment
• Use of Force, De‑Escalation, SCDT, Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
• Comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and various related Acts, Codes and legislation (Criminal Code, Trespass to Property Act, Fire Code, WHMIS)

Compensation

Expected compensation: $20.00–$22.00 per hour (base hourly pay; overtime and premiums not included)
