Role & Responsibilities
About the Role
Are you passionate about strengthening communities and building meaningful relationships? Pillar Nonprofit Network is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented professional to join our team as the Fund Development & Membership Specialist . In this dynamic role, you’ll work across two interconnected portfolios - fundraising and membership engagement - to help power our mission of supporting nonprofits, charities, and social enterprises across London and Southwestern Ontario.
You’ll be a key contact for members, donors, sponsors, and partners, helping to grow our network and deepen relationships. From managing membership renewals and onboarding to coordinating donation tracking, sponsorship outreach, and donor stewardship, your work will directly contribute to our impact and sustainability. Duties & Responsibilities
Membership Engagement & Administration
Serve as the first point of contact for new and renewing members, ensuring a welcoming and streamlined experience
Maintain accurate member records and track engagement using our database (CiviCRM)
Identify target markets and support recruitment of new members
Collaborate on events, communications, and projects to grow member value and increase retention
Lead membership-focused projects including updates to fee structures, member benefits, and communication strategies
Fundraising & Donor Relations
Support the implementation of annual & mid-level giving, monthly giving, sponsorship, and donor recognition plans
Manage donation processing, tax receipting, and CRM tracking
Assist with researching and writing grant applications and reports
Develop donor communications and impact reports that express gratitude and show results
Build relationships with donors, partners and sponsors through thoughtful stewardship
Collaborative & Strategic Support
Contribute to organization-wide initiatives, events, and Pillar Impact & Learning Centre activities
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, values-aligned messaging and engagement
Represent Pillar at community events and support broader outreach efforts
Job Skills, Knowledge & Strengths
Required Qualifications
Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in fundraising, donor/member stewardship, or administrative support roles in a nonprofit or community-focused organization
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and details with care
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to build strong relationships with a wide range of partners
Proficient in using CRM databases (e.g., CiviCRM, Raiser’s Edge, Keela, etc.), Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
Familiarity with London’s nonprofit landscape and the broader nonprofit sector in Southwestern Ontario
Experience in community development, whether through paid work or volunteer roles
Strategic thinker with experience coordinating or supporting donor engagement, recognition, and impact storytelling
Grant writing experience, including proposal writing and reporting to funders
Experience with member recruitment, communications, and retention strategies
Track record of adapting quickly, learning on the go, and improving processes and systems
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across teams
Desired Knowledge & Skills
Experience with project management tools (e.g., Basecamp, etc.)
Comfort with digital fundraising platforms like CanadaHelps.org
Familiarity with Drupal or similar content management systems
Understanding of digital engagement tools that support small organizations and amplify advocacy or fundraising efforts

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Reports ?to: VP, Fund Development and Member Services
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Access to Pillar's Learning & Impact Centre program, which provides staff access to online and in person professional development opportunities
Where operationally feasible, Pillar supports flexible and responsive work practices that promote employee wellbeing and effectiveness. This role is primarily based at Innovation Works (201 King Street, London), with limited hybrid work and flexible scheduling available, subject to team and operational requirements.
Compensation:
This position has been evaluated at a Band B level with a salary range of $50,000 (minimum) to $55,000 (midpoint) to $60,000 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and the midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.

RRSP contributions and enrollment in Pillar’s comprehensive employee benefits program will also be provided.
Candidates selected for a second interview may be asked to complete a short assignment. Pillar Nonprofit Network values candidates' time and will provide compensation for up to three hours of preparation at a rate of $31/hour.
