DIRECTOR, INDIVIDUAL DIRECT CHANNEL (HYBRID) (Toronto)

Role Overview

The Director, Individual Insurance Direct Channel reports to the Vice President Consumer Segment and leads direct channel growth, phone channel and sales, retention, group conversion, and profitability initiatives for the Individual Insurance business. The Director oversees a team of 17, including managers and 12 licensed agents.

Responsibilities

• Build and run a best‑in‑class Call Centre Sales Function, leading the in‑house sales team and overseeing an external vendor of approximately 35 licensed advisors.
• Design and execute a transformative roadmap to elevate phone channel performance using best practices, technology, and enterprise‑wide capabilities.
• Grow and manage the Group Conversion Program, positioning GreenShield as an industry leader through operations, marketing, technology, and analytics initiatives.
• Grow and manage the Direct to Consumer Program, collaborating with Enterprise Marketing to optimize distribution of Individual Insurance via direct‑response television and digital channels.
• Grow and manage the Retention Program, leveraging industry best practices, sales tools, and technology to elevate retention performance.
• Lead a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of results focus, collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progress insurance industry experience within Individual/Retail Insurance, preferably in Health and Dental, Travel and Life insurance.
• Proven track record building, running, and optimizing a phone sales channel, guiding people, technology, and processes to deliver best‑in‑class results and client experience.
• Proven experience managing sales programs including retention, group conversion, and/direct‑to‑consumer strategies, leveraging CRM/lead optimization, propensity models, and data‑driven growth.
• Exceptional financial and analytical aptitude, extracting insights from data and formulating customer‑first strategies, optimizing sales performance, and P&L management.
• Deep understanding of the individual insurance competitive landscape, including product, pricing, and direct‑to‑consumer sales strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, confidence presenting to executives, and ability to influence senior leaders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (MBA or Master’s Level Preferred).
• Strong people‑leadership skills, attracting, nurturing, and motivating talent while fostering collaboration, results focus, and innovation.
