Do you live in Whitehorse? Do you have higher level MATH skills such as pre-calculus 11 and 12? ? Do you have room in your life to tutor a high school student or two? LDAYukon is looking for pre-calc 11 & 12 tutors for in-person and online tutoring on a casual basis. Flexibility in teaching to a student's learning styles is always a helpful skill. A positive and affirming approach usually works best. Often tutoring starts with homework help and through that progresses to addressing gaps and building confidence. Quite frequently material needs to be revisited before it becomes working knowledge.
Tutoring happens at mutually convenient times, usually weekdays after school or evenings, though families may request a different time and if that can work for all parties, we are happy! Tutoring occasionally happens on weekends if that is mutually agreeable to both parties. Tutoring sessions are most often one hour in duration though they may be 1.25 or 1.5 hours. There is a sliding scale of pay starting at $33.00 an hour. Individuals with teaching degrees are especially encouraged to apply and fees are higher in this case.
