English Language Learning Coordinator
$27 - $32 per hourResponsibilities:
Cariboo-Chilcotin Partners for Literacy Society (CCPL) is seeking an English Language Learning Coordinator in 100 Mile House to support immigrants and newcomers improve their English skills. This is a flexible, part-time position of 16 hours per week with potential for growth & increased hours. This role does require some evening and/or weekend work to accommodate learners’ schedules.
Responsibilities:
– Plan & facilitate weekly conversation circles (informal English Language Learning sessions) with immigrants and newcomers of a wide range of English levels on a variety of topics
– Recruit, train and match volunteers with learners for added one-to-one English support
– Respond to emerging needs among the immigrant and newcomer community in the South Cariboo
– Enhance community connections and making referrals to other community agencies when needed
– Promote programs and services in the community via outreach and events
– Support other members of the newcomer settlement team
– Collect data, feedback and learner outcomes for program improvement and reporting purposes
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
– Minimum 2 years experience teaching adult English language learning
– Preference for candidates with TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate
– Demonstrated broad experience and/or understanding of and passion for literacy issues
– Excellent verbal communication skills
– Self-driven with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
– Proficient in use of computer software including Microsoft Office suite
Starting wage for this position is $27 to $32 per hour depending on education and experience.
