Human Relations Coordinator Full Time

Job Summary:

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Wellness, the Human Relations Coordinator supports the human resource recruitment, workforce development, and organizational needs of the Wellness Department. The role recruits, onboards, and actively seeks training and development opportunities for staff. They also are responsible for policy implementation and encouraging positive employee relations while modeling positive and healthy workplace culture. Transition readiness activities that strengthen Wellness services and assist with the ongoing development of Élksts re Kíkwe will also be a part of this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation policies, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer
  2. Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of the Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation

Human Relations Administration:

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain human resource policies, procedures, forms, and practices and coach staff in same
  2. Maintain employee records, files, and documentation in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements. This may include, but not be limited to:
    1. Succession or transition planning
    2. Develop job descriptions, organizational charts, and workforce planning tools.
    3. Prepare correspondence and reports as required
    4. Prepare documents for employee audits as required

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  1. Create job postings, advertise, schedule and conduct interviews; do reference checks
  2. Plan and follow through with employee orientation, onboarding, and training activities

Employee Relations, Training and Workplace Support:

  1. Address employee relations concerns and workplace issues as directed by the Senior Manager Wellness
  2. Maintain employee training records, certifications, and professional development tracking systems; ensure recertifications are completed before expiration dates
  3. Promote employee engagement, workplace wellness, recognition initiatives, and positive workplace culture
  4. Develop resources such as orientation materials, workplace guides, and training tools
  5. Model respectful workplace practices and culturally grounded workplace etiquette

Transition & Organizational Development:

  1. Support organizational readiness activities related to the continued development of Wellness services and Élksts re Kíkwe.
  2. Support special projects and initiatives identified by the Senior Manager – Wellness.

The duties listed are examples of responsibilities and are meant to clarify the scope of the position rather than limit it. All staff are expected to work collaboratively as a team and uphold confidentiality regarding all information obtained while performing their roles within the organization.

 

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Public Administration, or a related field
  • CPHR designation or working toward a designation is considered an asset
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
  • Demonstrated experience working with First Nations, Indigenous organizations, Indigenous governments, or community-based organizations

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, relationship-building and relationship-repair skills
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Comprehensive written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with excellence
  • Interprets and apply policies, procedures, and workplace practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, and administrative documentation in a timely manner
  • Works independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Secwépemc culture, values, and community priorities
  • Lifestyle and conduct consistent with the responsibilities of the position

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment during office hours
  • Frequent interaction with employees, managers, leadership, and external service providers
  • Requires a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion
  • Manages multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines
  • Occasional travel, evening meetings, or training sessions may be required

Conditions of Employment:

  • Successful criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s Licence

Directly Supervises:

  • None

Wage Expectations:In accordance with TFN salary grid (commensurate with experience)

Term: Full time

Monday to Friday – 35 hours/ week
