Family Wellness Assistant (Maternity Leave Coverage)

The Family Wellness Assistant supports the Family Wellness Manager in the delivery of culturally grounded family wellness services to the Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation community. This position provides administrative, coordination, and program support to ensure effective delivery of family wellness initiatives which promote physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being for individuals and families. The role upholds Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation’s values of respect, compassion, inclusion, and wellness, and works in alignment with community priorities and cultural teachings.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Tsq̓éscen̓̓ First Nation policies, standards, and procedures as directed by the Family Wellness Manager.
- Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to clients, families, and the affairs of the Tsq̓éscen̓̓ First Nation.
- Provides administrative and program support to the Family Wellness Manager to ensure effective delivery of family wellness services.
- Assists with coordination of family wellness programs, workshops, support groups, and community activities.
- Supports community members accessing family wellness services by providing information, referrals, and logistical assistance in a culturally respectful manner.
- Maintains accurate and confidential client and program records, files, and databases.
- Assists with scheduling appointments, meetings, and program sessions for the Family Wellness team.
- Supports outreach efforts and community engagement related to Family Wellness initiatives.
- Assists with preparation of reports, statistics, and documentation required for program tracking, funding, or management review.
- Coordinates logistics for wellness activities, including room bookings, materials, refreshments, and attendance tracking.
- Liaises with internal programs, external agencies, and service providers as directed by the Family Wellness Manager.
- Supports culturally safe practices that respect family privacy, Indigenous values, and community wellness priorities.
- Provides support in resolving workplace concerns and maintaining respectful workplace practices.
- Assists with the coordination of staff meetings, wellness activities, and team-building events.
- Participates in team meetings and contributes to continuous improvement of family wellness services.
- Assists with promoting awareness of family wellness programs within the community.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with families, community programs, health, social services, or wellness-related initiatives is an asset.
- Experience working with, or for, a First Nation or Indigenous organization is a strong asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and basic record-keeping systems.
- Strong organizational and coordinating skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative wellness or community services team.
- Respect for and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and community-based approaches to wellness.
Education/Requirements:
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Social Services, Community Support, Office Administration, Health, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a community support, administrative, or wellness-related role.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and community-based wellness approaches is an asset.

- Teamwork – Works collaboratively with the Family Wellness Manager and other staff to support positive outcomes for families and the community.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s Licence.
- Travel to other related organization locations may be required.
- Receives moderate supervision with less frequent direction and occasional review of the work performed.
Term: Full time
Monday to Friday – 35 hours/ weekMaternity Leave Coverage: July 2026 – July 2027
NOTE: This role is intended to transition into another role at the end of term.
Hourly rate of Pay:As per the TFN Salary Grid starting
