Manager (Public Practice)

We are seeking an experienced Manager with a focus on tax for a Calgary-based public accounting firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading full file client work in public practice (compilation, review, tax). This role involves overseeing complex personal, trust, and corporate tax returns, identifying tax-saving opportunities, liaising with the Canada Revenue Agency, and providing strategic tax guidance to ensure compliance and support business objectives. Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To

• Lead compilation and review engagements in accordance with CSRS 4200 and CSRE 2400 standards.
• Conduct tax research and provide recommendations on planning opportunities, compliance matters, and corporate restructurings.
• Prepare reorganization documentation, including instruction letters and compliance checklists.
• Prepare and review complex personal, trust, and corporate tax returns as well as manage correspondence and interactions with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing timely advice and support.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
• Mentor and support the professional development of junior team members.

Your strengths include

• CPA designation required.
• 5+ years of experience in public practice.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate, personal, and trust taxation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong integrity and client focus.
• Experience with CaseWare and TaxCycle is an asset.
• Experience with Taxnet Pro is an asset.
• Completion of the In-Depth Tax Program is an asset but not required.
