Senior Project Engineer

The below details the job description. As in the normal project and construction world the list is not exhaustive:

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to all construction health, safety, security and environmental policies and comply with all applicable legal regulations.
• Assist the Capital Projects Manager/Senior Project Engineering Lead with the execution of the capital projects (engineering, procurement with prime focus on construction)
• Support the Engineering Lead and Discipline Leads in managing engineering firms to complete detailed engineering for projects.
• Participate in constructability and design reviews including drawings, project instructions and specifications.
• Provide construction technical expertise for projects
• Provide input and support to the construction team and recommend corrective action when required during execution.
• Support the development of project estimates, preparation and submission of Application for Expenditures (AFEs);
• Collaborate with the procurement group to execute scopes of work, tenders, technical bid evaluations and assist with general contracts management.
• Identify critical issues within the project (i.e. project risks and opportunities) that could impact project baselines and develop action plan to mitigate them
• Share and implement best engineering, construction practices and process improvements
• Support the development of project schedules.
• In collaboration with the Projects Cost Controller, manage project costs, review actuals to date provide forecasts, cost deviation and recommend remedial actions to stay on budget;

Qualifications

• 5 years on site managing projects with civil/structural construction aspects
• Industrial mine site experience an asset
• Surface and underground mining construction project experience preferred
• Ability to handle fast paced construction environments, targets, manage multiple scopes in a diverse portfolio

** This is a Monday to Thursday work schedule with one week at home, one week in office with engineering team, and one week on construction work site. 12 hour shifts on site and 5 years+ longevity
